Lighting AZ Purple

"Domestic violence should never be seen as something that only happens to 'someone else'... That's not 'someone else'. That's all of us."

-Governor Doug Ducey

Domestic Violence Affects Us All:

1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men in the United States have experienced severe physical violence by an intimate partner.

Every minute, 20 people in the U.S. are victims of physical violence by an intimate partner.

Lighting Arizona Purple:

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Governor Doug Ducey is committed to raising awareness by lighting the State Capitol dome purple as a symbol of strength and hope to survivors of domestic violence and will launch the month-long Lighting Arizona Purple campaign. We encourage all Arizonans to join the Governor in taking a stand against domestic violence by learning about the issue and by lighting their own homes purple. This year’s Lighting Arizona Purple event is sponsored by Arizona-based PetSmart Charities and the Home Depot.
